Itzhak (Zachi) Tamo has been working with Professor Barg since 2012.

 

Itzhak (Zachi) Tamo, a post-doctoral student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute for Systems Research, will join the Department of Electrical Engineering Systems at Tel Aviv University, Israel, as an assistant professor. His appointment begins in January 2015.

At the University of Maryland, he is advised by Professor Alexander Barg (ECE/ISR) with whom he has worked since the fall of 2012 researching coding systems for distributed storage applications. Tamo’s research interests are in storage systems and devices, computer systems design, analysis, and fault tolerance, coding theory, and data analysis.

Tamo completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Ben-Gurion University under the direction of Dr. Moshe Schwartz. During his graduate career, he also spent two years at the California Institute of Technology working with Professor Shuki Bruck’s lab in the Parallel and Distributed Systems Group. Tamo holds a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Ben Gurion University. He has also held positions in the Israeli technology industry.
