Ilya Ryzhov has been granted a joint appointment in the Institute for Systems Research and the Robert H. Smith School’s Department of Decisions, Operations and Information Technology by Clark School Dean Darryll Pines and Smith School Dean Alexander Triantis.

Ryzhov was recently promoted to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure by University of Maryland President Wallace Loh. Both Ryzhov’s joint appointment and his promotion go into effect July 1. Ryzhov had been an ISR affiliate faculty member since 2016.

Ryzhov works in the general area of business analytics, encompassing topics in optimization, probability and statistics. More specifically, his research deals with decision-making under uncertainty, often with the additional dimension of information collection.
