It is with great sadness that we inform you of the Oct. 18 death of former ISR faculty member Wijesuriya Dayawansa, after a fierce struggle with a recently diagnosed illness. Dr. Dayawansa was an ISR and ECE faculty member from 1989 to 1996. He then moved to Texas Tech, where he was Paul Whitfield Horn Professor of Mathematics and Statistics. He was a specialist in nonlinear control systems, especially in smart structures and walking machines. Dr. Dayawansa is survived by his wife Samanmalee and their children, to whom we offer our heartfelt condolences. A memorial website has been set up at Texas Tech, which we encourage you to visit.
