On Sept. 25, the Maryland Robotics Center celebrated its new Robotics Realization Lab (RRL) with an open house event that drew more than 100 people.

RRL Director and Associate Professor Sarah Bergbreiter (ME/ISR), ISR Director Reza Ghodssi (ECE/ISR) andMaryland Robotics Center Director S.K. Gupta (ME/ISR) welcomed visitors to the lab and explained its capabilities. Guests were then able to view a number of robotics demonstrations.

This lab is a multi-user facility that houses advanced human-safe robots for manufacturing and medical applications as well as mechanical and electrical rapid prototyping equipment to support the development of robot hardware not commercially available.

For a list of the lab equipment and information on how to join the lab, visit the lab website.

The RRL is managed by ISR Facilities Manager Shawn Fickes. Dean Darryll Pines and the A. James Clark School of Engineering were instrumental in providing funding for the lab.
