Robotics will play a part in the A. James Clark School of Engineering's Mpact Week event, Oct. 16-22. This year's theme, Disaster Resilience, looks at ways engineers are playing a significant role in developing innovative solutions to help prevent, mitigate and respond to both natural and human-caused disasters. It will focus on research in the Clark School that helps our national and international communities prepare for disaster scenarios.
The morning session on Friday, Oct. 17, will focus on "UAVs and Robotics for Disaster Response." It will feature a keynote address by Dr. Bradford Tousley, Director of DARPA's Tactical Technology Office, as well as demonstrations of robots by Maryland Robotics Center faculty and students in the Kim Building rotunda and nearby labs.
