Associate Professor S. (Raghu) Raghavan (BGMT/ISR) is one of three co-editors of a new book published by Springer, Telecommunications Modeling, Policy, and Technology Series: Operations Research/Computer Science Interfaces Series, Vol. 44.

Raghavan's co-editors are Bruce Golden and Edward Wasil. The book is a companion volume to the Ninth INFORMS Telecommunications Conference held at the University of Maryland March 27?29, 2008.

With rapid advances in telecommunications technology there are many new innovative applications and new research problems. Each of the 17 papers in this volume is motivated by these advances in technology. Topics range from free-space optical networks to vehicular ad-hoc networks. Issues inclufe the design of business models, tools for spectrum auctions, Internet charging schemes, Internet routing policies, and network design problems. Both engineering design and policy are discussed.
