Graduate student Juanjuan Xiang won the best student poster award in the neuroscience category at the University of Maryland's BioScience Day event on November 13, 2007. Xiang, an advisee of Prof. Jonathan Z. Simon (ECE/ISR/BIO), won for her poster titled "Neural and behavioral correlates of attention." It is noteworthy to mention that Xiang, an electrical and computer engineering student, managed to beat out all of the student entries from the neuroscience and cognitive neuroscience program. She will defend her thesis next week.

Bioscience Day is a special event that features research talks, presentations, mini-symposia and demonstrations by university scientists. The program provides a unique opportunity for executives and professionals in industry and government to discover the most recent advances in bioscience and biotechnology at the University of Maryland
