Leonard Petnga (2016 Ph.D. Civil Systems) will be joining the University of Alabama Huntsville in Fall 2017 an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and Engineering Management.

His research interests are in ontologies for cyber-physical systems (CPS); model-based system integration for CPS with application to transportation, energy, buildings; semantics for model-based systems engineering (MBSE); and OWL and SysML integration.

As a Civil Systems Ph.D. student, Petnga worked with undergraduate students in the capstone ENES 489P course, “Hands-On Systems Engineering Projects.” His Ph.D. advisor was Associate Professor Mark Austin (CEE/ISR). During his time as an ISR postdoctoral researcher, Leonard worked with Austin on the development of a decision framework relating to cross-domain model integration.
