ISR alum Jie Chen (Ph.D. 1998), an assistant professor in Brown University's Electrical Sciences and Computer Engineering Department, has been named a Distinguished Lecturer by IEEE's Circuits and Systems Society. His term lasts through December 2005. He lectures on "Nanoscale Device Modeling and its Fault-tolerance Mesoscopic System Design" and "Joint Cross-layer Design for Wireless QoS Content Delivery."

Jie Chen heads the Brown BINARY Lab ( Biology, Information science and Nanotechnology Applications and Research laboratorY). His Ph.D. advisor was Professor K.J. Ray Liu (ECE/ISR).
